Pyjamas. Back pains from sitting on your wobbly dining chair. The latest Netflix show that you stayed up all night binging. The loud construction outside your apartment that is especially loud when you’re on a call. You’re ready to get the hell out and find a place to tackle all the work that’s been piling up – we’ve all been there.

We’re always on the lookout for that perfect working café in Geneva. You know, the spots with reliable wi-fi, outlets, and the right working vibes. Where you don’t need to worry about getting dirty looks for sitting for an extended period of time. We are constantly updating and reviewing this list, so be sure to check back.

Overview

Oh Martine!

📍Rue de Montbrillant 2 | Cornavin | $$$$
There’s always that one coffee shop that everyone knows about and loves. In Geneva, that would be Oh Martine! Conveniently located right by Cornavin station, the café features a large and airy space, bright and open windows, and plenty of seats both inside and outside. It’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends, read a book or sit with your laptop. It’s open 7 days a week, and opens early at 7am (7:30am on the weekends) until 6:30pm. You don’t need to be seated, simply grab a free table and order at the counter. There’s wifi, and outlets at select tables. Oh Martine is always busy, so you get that buzzy café vibes with lots of background noises and gentle music. The coffees and pastries are always solid, and they also offer delicious brunch meals with HUGE portions. They have another spot at Eaux-Vives, the original location, that has been expanded, but we’re huge fans of the Cornavin spot.

Corde Coffee

📍Rue Claudine-Levet 7 (Rue de Grenus) | Coutance | $$$$

Corde Coffee is a small but warm coffee shop right next to Manor. They serve amazing coffee and have an excellent range of pastries and desserts with vegan options. It’s a laptop friendly café, with decent wifi and opened 7 days a week – a rarity in Geneva. The only thing you need to worry about is being able to grab a table, as it can get quite busy during the afternoons. They have another branch in Eaux-Vives with a slightly bigger space.

MAME

📍Bd James-Fazy 8 | Saint-Gervais | $$$$

MAME is known as being one of the best specialty coffee shops in Geneva, both founders having met at a coffee competition and won multiple barista awards. If you are a coffee lover, MAME is definitely worth checking out, as you can customize your coffee to your specific liking based on their flavor wheel – nutty, fruity, bold etc… We prefer the MAME Saint-Gervais branch over the Plainpalais spot for working. It’s right next to the Voisins coworking space, and it feels like the coworking space was extended into MAME, with stable wifi and multiple outlets by the tables. The Plainpalais branch is very popular and almost always full, or has people waiting for a seat, which makes it a bit uncomfortable if you want to ‘camp’ out with your laptop. It’s another 7/7 café, perfect for those that need to get some work done on the weekends.

Boréal Coffee

📍Rue du Stand 60 | Quartier des Banques | $$$$

Boréal Coffee is another beloved and popular coffee shop with branches all around town. They are known for their freshly roasted coffee beans and friendly service. The Boréal Coffee at the Quartier des Banques is very laptop friendly – free wifi, plenty of workstations and outlets. It definitely feels like a younger crowd, you’ll see many students studying here. The pastries are exceptional, the prices are fair for Geneva, and the matcha latte is one of the best we’ve had in town.

Café Bourdon

📍Rue de la Servette 37 | Servette | $$$$

Café Bourdon is a hidden gem in Servette that specializes in brunch and other tasty bites. The environment is modern, clean, and has super comfy chairs. Laptop friendly, with several outlets available and free wifi. No death stares for staying a few hours with your work. Café Bourdon is also a family friendly spot, with a small kids corner with toys, something we don’t see often.

L’Aubépine Café

📍Rue de l’Aubépine 2 | Plainpalais | $$$$

L’Aubépine Café is a charming café tucked in a quiet street in Plainpalais. Quiet and cozy, with feel-at-home decor, L’Aubépine serves amazing coffee at a reasonable price, and fresh bites to fuel your work. Most importantly, it’s a wonderful spot to work, with lightning fast wifi and outlets around the shop. The cappuccino is excellent, and there’s a variety of gluten-free snacks available. Be sure to check their opening hours, as they close early at 3pm on weekends.
