Updated 13 October, 2025 with additional recommendations

Finding a good and trusted pediatrician is never easy when you first move to Geneva, especially when there’s so many options and feeling overwhelmed with the health system + language barrier.

From talking with other moms, here are what seem to matter most:

  • Languages spoken – French of course, but English‑speaking doctors are a big plus for many expats.
  • Proximity / ease of transport — close to home or along your usual commute helps for regular visits.
  • Out‑of‑hours service — weekend or evening options, or on‑call services.
  • Home visits or flexibility (if baby is sick, hard to move around).
  • Good reputation / “mom‑word of mouth” — patient, attentive, clear in explanations.

Recommended Pediatricians & Specialists by Neighborhood

Below are pediatricians & clinics mothers in different Geneva areas often mention. Organized by neighborhood or nearby area so you can pick those closest.

TIP: Always call ahead to see if they are accepting new patients, what languages they speak, etc. You may also book in advance via https://www.onedoc.ch/en/

Personal experiences and may vary from person to person. We encourage you to do your own research—consider reaching out, asking questions, and arranging an initial meet-and-greet to get a genuine feel. Finding the right fit for your child is a personal journey, and it’s important to choose someone who truly aligns with their needs and comfort. ****

“A native Spanish speaker (she is Spanish but grew up here) and also speaks English very well. I highly recommend Dr. Mendez, she is extremely empathetic, has three children herself, and connects well with our entire family, including my teenage daughter. We have chronic health conditions in our family, and Dr. Mendez was the person who caught the symptoms that lead to the correct diagnosis many years ago. She is special person.

What to Check & Ask When Choosing

Here are things other expat mums suggest asking / checking to find the best fit:

  1. Is the doctor accepting new patients? Many are full or have waiting lists.
  2. Languages spoken – can you communicate well in your preferred language?
  3. Hours & emergencies – what is the protocol when your child falls sick after hours? How is urgent care handled?
  4. Home visits / telemedicine – helpful when baby is fragile, or travel is hard.
  5. Vaccination schedules & philosophy – sometimes slight variations; you’ll want someone aligned with your expectations.
  6. Distance / accessibility – public transport, parking, managing with stroller etc.

Unable to move or go see a pediatrician?

Check out: https://www.medgate.ch/en-us

They’ll do phone or video consultation, then send a prescription directly to a pharmacy of your choice if that’s needed.

**Their consultations are usually covered by insurance but please always double check with your insurance!!

Whenever your pediatrician is not available and it is not an emergency, call 0844 022 022. This is a centralised number for 3 sites with pediatricians on call. Explain the symptoms and choose the nearest place.

You may also book online https://sgp.onedoc.ch/

In case of emergencies, it is always best to go directly to the hospital:
