If you’re a planner like me, then you know that as soon as October hits, it’s go time for finding a family photographer for those annual Christmas photos (yes, we have to plan it that early). 🎄📸 This year, though, we’re adding a little twist — there’s a second baby on the way (yes, one more in the oven, due early November! 🍼), so we thought: why not combine newborn + Christmas photos in one go? Two birds, one (probably chaotic) photo shoot.
We moved to Geneva at the end of 2023, and I’ll be honest — trying to find anything familiar or “easy” here at first felt… a bit overwhelming. But thankfully, Geneva has an amazing expat community (shoutout to my many, many WhatsApp groups 🙈), and thanks to their tips, I was able to round up some truly great recommendations — from talented family photographers to where to get passport photos taken (yes, even for newborns).

**I will be using her for our shoot, we had our first meet and greet and she’s so lovely!! She reassured us that the goal is not to have everything ‘planned’ (you can imagine my planner anxiety here lol) and perfect but to capture beautiful moments that we can look back on.

Technically based in Fribourg, but regularly comes to Geneva! If you’re into earthy tones and golden-hour magic, she’s your person.
She delivers the entire gallery, which means a minimum of 50 photos, often more. The exact number depends on the flow of the shoot. Sometimes the session lasts around 45 minutes, most often about one hour, and occasionally a bit longer (up to 1h15).
Note her additional travel fee to Geneva is normally CHF 350- (unless she’s already in the area so always check her schedule!)
** She was my second choice only because the timing didn’t work out — I absolutely love her intimate, close-up style and would love to book her in the future!

Getting passport or ID photos for babies and toddlers is… an Olympic sport of its own. Here’s where to go when you need official photos who knows that yes, the mouth must be closed and no, the baby won’t do that on command.
🔥 Hot Tip: Bring extra change of clothes in case of spit up or accidents. Wear neutral or white color clothes and / or bring a white plain muslin in case you need to cover.
