The Ultimate Guide to Kids’ Birthday Parties in Geneva

A few words / context before we get into it…

Kids’ birthdays are fun but planning them can be…a lot. Finding a venue, feeding everyone, keeping a small army of children entertained — all while trying not to spend an absolute fortune for three hours of chaos.

Maybe it’s because I come from a family of wedding planners, or maybe it’s just my slightly Type A personality, but I somehow always end up going down the rabbit hole when planning a party. I’ve organised my fair share of events over the years, both professionally and personally, from small gatherings to much bigger ones.

Does that make me a professional kids’ party planner? Absolutely not. But now that I’m also planning birthdays for my own children, I’ve definitely picked up a few tricks and learned what really isn’t worth losing sleep over.

So this guide is a mix of our favorite Geneva birthday finds and a few things I’ve learned along the way: where it’s worth spending your time (and money), where you can take a shortcut, and hopefully a few ideas that’ll make planning the next birthday a little easier.

Budget-Friendly Venues & Tips

Before diving into full-package venues, it’s worth knowing about a few brilliant options that are often overlooked. They’re on the more affordable side and are great options to consider.

Ludothèques

Ludothèque = Toy Library… and so much more!

Every district of Geneva (and most communes) has one. You can become a member for a modest annual fee (around CHF 30), which lets you borrow toys and even borrow items like bouncy castles for a home party.

No membership needed for drop-in play — just check opening hours. At least one ludothèque is open every day in Geneva.

Maison de Quartier or salle communale

Best for ages 2+. If you don’t need an all-inclusive package and are happy organising a few things yourself, check your local Maison de Quartier (Community Centers) or salle communale (Village Hall).

You’ll usually get a simple room, often with a kitchen, toilets and sometimes outdoor space. Then you can bring your own food, decorations and entertainment.

Cost: Typically CHF 50–150 for a half-day hire, depending on the commune and day. Some require proof of residency in the commune; others are open to all. Booking is usually done through your local mairie or commune website.

💡 Tip: Booking early is key — especially for weekend slots in spring and autumn.

La Ciguë

This is another venue we stumbled across while looking for affordable spaces. They have several communal rooms around Geneva that can also be rented by people who aren’t members of the cooperative.

The price is pretty hard to beat: for external users, a one-off non-profit rental is currently listed at CHF 10/hour. A CHF 100 cash deposit is required for the keys.

La Manivelle

Switzerland’s largest object library — a non-profit cooperative where you can borrow over 4,500 objects of all kinds. If you’re planning a home party and don’t want to buy disposable equipment, this is both the budget-friendly and eco-friendly solution. You can also borrow items like garden games, sports equipment, kitchen appliances, and party equipment (tables, chairs, trestle tables, serving dishes, etc).

You can join their membership for an annual fee (very affordable), or rent objects one-off (price varies per item).

Special Access: UN Beach Club (UN Port)

Open from May–September. Located near the WTO, this private beach club on Lac Léman is open to active and retired UN staff, diplomats, NGO staff, and their families. A beautiful lakeside setting with restaurant, bar, swimming, kayaking, paddling, and regular events (yoga, concerts, dance). If you or a family member works at a qualifying organisation — this is an amazing place for a summer birthday gathering. Friends and family of eligible members are welcome.

Birthday Ideas for Ages 0 – 3 Years

For kids ages 0-3, keep parties short, cosy, and low-pressure — for everyone.

At this age, parties are often more for the parents than the children (and that’s perfectly okay). Your 1 year old won’t remember it. A short gathering with a few familiar faces usually works best. Keep the guest list small, the timing short (1.5–2 hours is plenty), and don’t stress about elaborate themes. A few balloons and a smash cake will make everyone happy.

Gymboree (Grand-Saconnex)

Birthday Ideas for Ages 4 – 10 Years (The Big Kids) & 11+ (Tweens)

This is when birthdays start getting really fun, mostly because the kids now have opinions. Lots of them.

When they’re younger, it’s all about themes, costumes and whatever character they’re currently obsessed with. As they get older, it becomes less about the decorations and more about what they’re doing and who’s coming.

And for the tweens? Honestly, just involve them. Nothing brings you back down to earth faster than spending hours planning, only to be told your idea is “cringe.”

The ideas below cover a pretty wide age range, so use the recommended ages as a guide and go with what your kid actually enjoys — many work just as well for older kids and tweens.

🏠 Indoor Venues

Just Bloom (City Center)

Recommended Ages 1–10

A beautiful kids-friendly café in Geneva offering dedicated birthday party packages with real attention to detail.

Blue Cinema Genève (City Center)

Recommended Ages 6+

A private cinema screening makes for a brilliantly easy and memorable birthday, especially for older children who have a favourite film. Blue Cinema Genève offers birthday experiences alongside bowling, laser tag, and VR at their other Swiss locations.

NOON Café Céramique (Eaux-Vives)

Recommended for ages 7+

A cute option for the creative kids (and honestly, the adults too). Pick a ceramic piece, paint it however you like, then NOON takes care of the glazing and firing — so everyone gets a little keepsake from the birthday too.

  • For birthdays, ages 7–10 are limited to 6 children, while 10+ can have up to 10, with 1–2 accompanying parents.
  • The workshop lasts 2 hours and most children’s pieces are around 💰 CHF 25–38.
  • You can bring a birthday cake and candles (CHF 3/person cake fee), but leave the balloon arch at home — outside decorations aren’t allowed. Probably one less thing to organise anyway.

Un ‘R’ de Famille (Plainpalais)

Recommended Ages 2–10

  • Magic shows, puppet shows, cooking workshops (recommended ages 5-10), T-shirt painting, bracelet-making.
  • Toddler corners for under-5s.
  • Cake and drinks included.
  • 💰 From ~CHF 18–32/child depending on formula

Kalayan (Plainpalais)

Recommended Ages 6+

An entertainment hub with escape games, VR, Bricks 4 Kidz (Lego workshops), Cube Challenges, Sensas (sensory rooms), Quiz Room, and more. Multiple birthday formulas for children including a snack package. In partnership with Servette FC, they also offer stadium birthday experiences — stadium tour, bench photo, half-time birthday announcement on the giant screen, and a goodie bag.

Moshy Club (Plainpalais)

Recommended for ages 8+

For the crafty kids. Moshy Club runs Décoden workshops in Geneva and Lausanne, where you decorate phone cases, mirrors or other objects with colourful cream. No experience needed, all the materials are included, and everyone leaves with their own creation.

They can also organise private birthday experiences, so it’s a fun alternative for kids who would rather get creative than spend two hours climbing walls or shooting lasers at their friends.

Yatouland (Carouge & Jonction)

Recommended Ages 3–12

Can be indoor & outdoor

Need your kids to just let loose and run wild in inflatable castles? This is your place. Their packages includes: private room, personalised invitations, group photo, themed tableware.

Airloop — AirKids zone (Grand-Lancy)

AirKids: Ages 0–7 / Main park: 6+

Geneva’s trampoline park with a dedicated 100 m² AirKids area for under-7s, including the AIRBABY zone for 0–2 year-olds. Birthday packages available (minimum 8 people): 1h activity + 30 min VR + 30 min party room.

La Praille Arena Cinemas & Bowling (Grand-Lancy)

Recommended Ages 7+

  • Arena Cinemas: Runs dedicated kids birthday packages (Wed and Sat, 13h–17h, ages 6–12, 7–15 children) with cake, drinks, and a 4DX film included. 💰 Contact directly for group/birthday pricing
  • Bowling de la Praille: Classic competitive fun with different party packages, a full food menu, and a VIB (Very Important Bowler) card for the birthday child. 💰 From ~CHF 25–35/child depending on package

ATMO’GAME (Quartier de l’Étang)

All ages / 8+ for main activities

Next-generation leisure centre with laser tag, Ninja Warrior course, arcade games, interactive walls, Valomotion, VR and more. Three private birthday rooms available. Also has a dedicated early-learning zone (Graine d’Éveil) for ages 1–6. Specific activities typically for ages 8+, but the family zone is open to all ages.

TOTEM Escalade — Le Môll (Vernier) & Meyrin

Recommended Ages 4–14

Indoor bouldering walls with a dedicated kids zone from age 4.

  • Birthday parties run Saturday and Sunday mornings (9h–13h30), 2 hours including a snack break.
  • Qualified monitors run the whole thing.
  • You bring the cake; they provide fruit, popcorn, and squash.
  • New: choose a themed party (Pirates, Magic & Sorcery, Knights & Princesses).

  • Public entry from CHF 9–11 for under-12s.
  • Approx. CHF 28–40/child for birthday package

Balexert — Balex’Air, Cinema & Bowling (Vernier)

Recommended ages: 3+ depending on the activity

A bit of a birthday one-stop shop! Depending on the age (and energy level), Balexert has a few different options all under one roof.

  • Halte-Jeux Balex’Air — For ages 3–10, you can privatise part of the play area for a birthday, with cake included. Parties last 1.5 hours for ages 3–4 and 2 hours for ages 5–10, with packages currently starting from CHF 150 for the older age group.
  • Pathé Balexert — An easy one for older kids: movie, popcorn, friends… very little entertaining required from you. Win.
  • The Bowling Balexert — Another classic for older kids and tweens, with 16 bowling lanes, arcade games, billiards and dedicated birthday formulas. There’s also a restaurant/pizzeria on site, making the whole food + activity situation pretty easy.

Manège de Meyrin

Recommended Ages 4–10

Birthday parties on horseback!

  • 5 different packages for ages 4–10,
  • Wednesday to Sunday afternoons (14h–17h) and Sunday mornings (9h–12h).
  • Maximum 15 children (CHF 10 per extra child).
  • Book at least 3 weeks in advance — online only.
  • CHF 100 deposit required. Cash payment on the day.

Kids Up (Meyrin)

Recommended Ages 5–14

A children’s circus school. 60–75 minutes of juggling, trapeze, acrobatics, and rolla-bolla with professional instructors. Popcorn and custom cakes available.

💰 CHF 28–40/child

Vivarium de Meyrin (Meyrin)

Recommended: Ages 6+

One for the reptile lovers (or the kids who enjoy watching their parents casually panic around snakes aka ME). The Vivarium is home to more than 200 animals, including snakes, lizards, turtles and frogs, and offers birthday parties by reservation.

🌿 Outdoor / Park Options

Once they’re a little older, a birthday doesn’t necessarily need to look like a traditional birthday party at all. A day out with a few close friends can be just as special and sometimes much easier to organise.

Bioparc Genève (Bellevue)

Recommended all ages
For the animal lovers! A birthday at Bioparc includes time to explore the park plus a special animal feeding or immersive encounter. The birthday activity lasts around 45 minutes, and you’re free to explore the park before and afterwards. They also provide a tent and tables for your birthday setup, handy considering Geneva weather likes to keep us humble.

  • Groups are currently limited to 15 participants, with at least one accompanying adult.
  • Birthday packages are CHF 170 for annual members / CHF 220 for non-members, plus a refundable CHF 50 cash deposit.

Accrobranche at Parc Aventure Genève (Onex)

Recommended: Ages 3+
For kids who would happily spend their birthday climbing trees instead of sitting nicely around a table. Their accrobranche birthday option:

  • Starts from age 3, with mini courses for younger kids and aerial courses from age 7.
  • Expect around 2–3 hours of climbing, depending on age, with tables available nearby.
  • The birthday child’s entry is free with at least six participating children.
  • They also offer treasure hunt + accrobranche birthday packages for ages 5–7 and 8–11.
  • 💰 Accrobranche from CHF 17/child for mini courses and CHF 27/child for aerial courses.

Nearby France 🇫🇷

Don’t forget your options from France! There are various activity parks across the border that are often more affordable and less busy, totally doable for a party day trip.

Vitam’Ludic / Parc (Neydens, France)

Recommended Ages 1–14

Only 15 minutes from central Geneva, this is a mega indoor play centre that’s a brilliant rainy-day or birthday destination. A giant maze with over 50 play elements: slides, monkey bars, ball cannons, tunnels, and a dedicated 1–4 year old zone. Also mini go-karts (from age 3), a climbing wall, and a laser labyrinth.

  • Birthday packages include a private room, personalised invitations, birthday cake, drinks, and a souvenir photo.
  • Open Wed, Sat, Sun and every day during school holidays.
  • Accessible by Bus D from Place Bel-Air (Cornavin).

Les Aigles du Léman (Sciez, France)

Recommended for all ages
Another fun one for kids who love animals. Their Sherkan birthday package includes park entry and the bird shows, a decorated birthday table, chocolate cake or fruit tart, drinks and access to the playground.

  • The package is currently €250 for 10 people (adults and children included), with additional guests at €22/person.
  • For €300, the Super Sherkan package also includes the chance to hold two birds of prey on a gloved hand
  • Birthday sessions run from 13:00–17:30, and the park also has children’s play areas, rabbits, educational spaces and plenty of birds of prey to discover.

Family-friendly Restaurants & Cafés

Sometimes the simplest birthday plan is a really lovely lunch or brunch at a place that welcomes children — high chairs, play corners, patient staff, and food that everyone will actually eat.

Great for all ages:

  • Luigia (multiple locations) – Lively Italian restaurant with generous kids menus, great pizza and pasta, friendly staff used to family crowds, and a fun cinema corner for kids at some locations. Branches in Meyrin, Eaux-Vives, Petit-Saconnex, Nyon and Lausanne. My favorite branch is in Meyrin as the place is quite big compared to the other locations in Geneva!
  • El Catrin (Pâquis) – Vibrant Mexican restaurant with a festive, colourful atmosphere that children find fascinating. Inclusive for families with high chairs available, milder dishes for younger palates, and live music or dance on weekends.
  • Wolfisberg (Carouge) – A lovely spot in Carouge with a small playroom (climbing frame and slide), a kids menu, and pushchair-friendly access.
  • Vicolo39 (Carouge) – One of our Carouge favorites and a particularly nice option when the weather is warm. Vicolo39 serves modern Italian food in the Auberge Communale de Carouge, with a lovely large, shaded terrace tucked away at the back plus an outdoor play area for children.
  • Blé Noir (Eaux Vives) – Rustic, cosy crêpe and galette restaurant with a relaxed family atmosphere. Staff are great with kids and often bring out colouring books or small games. Watching the crêpes being made is entertainment in itself.
  • Le Barocco at MAH (Champel) – Located inside the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire, right next to the museum’s family space, full of colouring pages, puzzles, books and activities.
  • Crown Plaza Geneva (Meyrin) If a birthday brunch feels more your style, Crown Plaza Geneva runs family Sunday brunches with kids’ animation and entertainment, a relaxed option where the grown ups actually get to enjoy a proper meal. Keep an eye on their programme as themes and dates vary.
