The rhythm of July in Geneva looks something like this: Swim in the lake, eat gelato, check out free concerts, watch movies outside, stay cool, and repeat. And of course, pray that there won’t be any more heat waves cause we’re really deep in summer now!
If you’re spending July in the city, get excited for the stacked line up of events happening. We’ve rounded up the best events in Geneva in July that we are most excited for, including standout events happening in other parts of Switzerland and nearby France.
Some things to highlight for July:
- World Cup Mania will kick into full gear, culminating in the final on 19 July. If you’re looking for the best places to watch the matches, we rounded up all the spots in one convenient guide.
- France’s National Day (Bastille Day) falls on Tuesday, 14 July. Given our close proximity to France, you can expect tons of celebrations, fireworks on the French side. Keep in mind that public transport and shops over the border will be operating on a holiday schedule.
- Open-Air Cinemas: While the biggest ones in town are Allianz Cinema and CinéTransat, there are many smaller, more intimate open-air cinemas popping up across different communes. We did a deep dive on those screenings here.
- Swiss National Day (1 Aug) – While the Swiss national day falls on the 1st of August, celebrations will kick off on the 31st of July. We have a guide dedicated to Swiss National Day celebrations, for more details.
